Refreshing, natural, and 100% Peruvian. Chicha morada is a traditional drink made with Goya purple corn, fruits, and spices. Served cold, it’s perfect to enjoy with meals or as a festive beverage. Though it takes time to prepare, the result is worth it: a drink full of flavor, color, and natural benefits.

Rations:
  • 500 gramos of Purple corn El Sabor de Casa
  • 4 liters of water
  • 0.5 pineapple peel
  • 1 chopped apple
  • 1 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 aromatic cloves
  • 1 pinch of sugar to taste
  • 1 splash of lemon juice to taste

Preparation

  1. Preparing the ingredients: Rinse the purple corn well. Chop the pineapple peel and apple.
  2. First boil: In a large pot, combine the purple corn, pineapple peel, apple, cinnamon, and cloves with 3 liters of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
  3. Second step: Strain the resulting liquid and set aside.
  4. Sweeten and cool: While the drink is still warm, sweeten with sugar to taste. Add lime juice to taste as well. Stir until all the sugar dissolves.
  5. Serve: Let it cool completely. Serve chilled, optionally with pieces of apple or pineapple in the glass.
