Preparation

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions, peppers and garlic and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 7 minutes. Once ready, transfer the vegetable mixture to a bowl. Reserve the rest of the vegetable mixture.
  2. In the bowl with half of the cooked vegetables, add the ground beef, pork, bread crumbs, Sazón Goya with coriander and annatto, egg, Sazonador Total and Adobo to taste. Mix the ingredients with the meat until you get a homogeneous result. With wet hands, shape into a total of approximately 12 meatballs.
  3. Heat remaining oil in large skillet. Add the meatballs and cook until well browned on all sides, about 10 minutes. Reserve the meatballs on a tray lined with paper towels to remove excess fat
  4. Heat the remaining oil over medium-high heat and add the reserved vegetables, tomato sauce, 2 cups water, oregano and 1 tbsp. cilantro to the skillet. Bring to a boil and season sauce with Adobo. Add meatballs to sauce and cover with water. Cook until sauce thickens and meatballs are cooked through, turning meatballs every 5 minutes, until about 15 minutes more.
  5. Serve over cooked rice or pasta and garnish with cilantro, if desired.
