  1. Coconut milk is obtained from the white pulp of the coconut, produced by boiling the pulp with water and then filtered.
  2. Coconut milk can be heavy, with a content between 20 and 22% fat, or light, between 5 and 7% fat.
  3. Another big difference is the caloric content. A cup of whole coconut milk can have up to 500 Cal and 50 grams of fat. In contrast, a cup of coconut water contains only 45 lime and no fat.
  4. Coconut milk is often used to cook desserts or curry dishes, while coconut water is intended for recipes for soft drinks.
  5. In mature coconuts most of the water inside becomes pulp, which is why they tend to make coconut milk, while younger coconuts are the best producers of coconut water.
